What is stickybits?
Stickybits is a free app that lets you scan barcodes with your iPhone or Android phone. Each barcode has a wall of digital content associated with it, and some have promotions and deals that will be revealed on scan. Stickybits works with all existing barcodes, QR codes, and also custom barcodes.
topHow do I use stickybits?
Download the free app to your iPhone or Android phone, find an object with a barcode on it, and scan that object with the stickybits scanner. Review the content on the wall or add your own. If you received a reward or found a challenge, follow the instructions on screen.
topHow do I scan something?
Place the barcode upright (with the numbers facing down) inside the circles. Hold both the object and your phone as steady as possible. Stickybits works best in well lit spaces with barcodes that are not on reflective surfaces. If it's dark when you are scanning try turning on "night vision" which will activate the flash on your camera phone if it exists.
topWhat kinds of things can I scan?
You can scan anything that has a barcode or QR code on it.
topCan I scan QR codes?
Yes, stickybits will work with QR codes. Most QR code scanners will redirect you to the URL embedded in the QR code. Stickybits does not redirect on scan; it will instead create a unique page in our app where people can read and share digital content related to that QR code.
topI can't get something to scan, what's wrong?
It might be too dark, the camera could be blurry, or the code may be on a reflective surface. If you are having difficulty scanning, hit "enter code" at the bottom right of the screen and you can manually enter a code number. Enter all the numbers you see, from left to right at the bottom of the barcode.
topHow do I attach content to a barcode?
After you scan a barcode you will be brought to the "wall" for that code. Select the "post something" button on the top left of the screen. From the post screen you can add text, a photo or video.
topWhat kinds of content can I post on the wall?
Text, photos, video or audio (in the form of MP4, .MOV, 3GP).
topHow is inappropriate content handled?
Inappropriate content is flagged for review, moderated and removed from the system if it is not acceptable. You can help us moderate by selecting the pink plus sign on a post, and touching the white flag in the bottom right corner to mark it as inappropriate.
topCan I edit the title of a barcode?
If you see a "title" button at the top of the code wall, you may select it to enable editing of a barcode title. Some codes have official moderators and cannot be edited. Any stickybits code you create and become moderator of, you will be able to edit.
topWhen will you support blackberry?
We are currently waiting for a blackberry OS that supports real-time scanning. We hope to start development in Q2 of 2011.

topHow do I find people to follow?
Select the "following" tab from your profile screen and hit "search for someone." You can search your facebook and twitter accounts, or search stickybits. If you login via Facebook connect we will auto-follow people you are friends with who are also using stickybits.
topHow do I delete people I am following?
Select the following tab from your profile screen, then select the user you want to delete. Select "unfollow" on their profile screen to remove that person from people you follow.

Go to the login page of the website and select the "forgot password?" link or go here: https://stickybits.com/forgotpw/ and follow the instructions to reset your password.
topHow do I earn more points / level up?
The more you use stickybits, the more points you earn. You earn points for things like scanning and posting to the wall to name a few. Look out for the yellow star icon which will appear whenever you complete an action that earns you points.
topHow do I turn off email notifications from codes?
On your mobile device, go to the code wall which your are receiving email notifications from. Select "notifications" at the bottom of the wall under "options." Turn the settings to "off" if you would not like to receive emails for that code.
topHow do I change my username?
You can't change the username you login with unless you create a new account. You can change your display name on stickybits by going to settings, selecting personal info, and typing in a new display name.
topHow do I create my own barcode?
Go to the "download barcodes" page on the site: http://www.stickybits.com/download/ and follow the instructions. Make sure to select "become this barcodes moderator" if you would like to manage that code.
topWhat do people see when they scan a barcode I created?
People will see whatever content you attached to that barcode. Anyone who scans your code can also attach content. If you see something inappropriate, flag it and stickybits will review it for removal.

What is a challenge?
A challenge is a series of tasks you complete
topHow do I win a reward?
You can win a reward after scanning something or after completing the steps of a challenge. To find out what objects have rewards attached to them, check out the stickybits homepage and also keep an eye your friend's activity feed.
topHow come I didn't win a reward even though I participated in a challenge?
Some promotions have a limited number of items that can be won, or random odds as part of their restrictions. If you complete a challenge and did not receive a reward, you'll get an email explaining why. Restrictions will be disclosed at the start of a challenge. If you did not complete all the steps of a challenge, you will not be eligible to receive a reward.
topWhere can I find information about my rewards?
Go to your profile and select "Rewards & Challenges." You will see a list of rewards at the bottom. Select the individual reward for information. You will also receive an email from stickybits and from the reward giver whenever you win.
topHow do points and levels affect my rewards?
The more points you earn, the better rewards you will receive. You will also get first access to challenges.
topWhen do rewards expire?
Select the specific reward in "Rewards & Challenges" on your profile screen to view the expiration date.

You will receive an email from stickybits with information about redeeming your reward after you win it. If you do not receive this email you can contact us at help@stickybits.com

How can I delete my location from stickybits?

Connecting your facebook and twitter accounts will help you find friends also using stickybits, and allow you to share things you find on stickybits with your friends on those networks. You can manage all of your default twitter and facebook sharing options in the "settings" page of the mobile app. We won't publish anything without your permission.

topWhat information from my account is shared with friends and everyone else?
If you choose to fill out your website and bio, those will display on your profile page. Your twitter handle will also display if you choose to connect that account. Activity related to scans, wall posts, rewards and challenges will be shared with the people that follow you. Payment information, address, gender, and age are private and will never be shared on your profile.

Some rewards require a purchase to redeem them. In the case that you need to make a purchase we will collect your credit card information. This information will be kept private and handled securely.

Some rewards will be fulfilled by mailing the item you won to an address you specify. We collect your shipping address so you can get your stuff!
topWhere can I see and adjust privacy settings?
Under "settings" in the mobile app you can edit all of your default facebook and twitter sharing options, as well as link or unlink your facebook and twitter accounts. If you want to remove your information from an item you scanned, scroll to the bottom of that object's wall and under options select "mark scan private." This will remove your location from that scan and your photo from the "scanned by" list, as well as any related posts in the activity feed.
